A secondary spiral layer is a zone of bony spiral lamina [zona laminae spiralis osseae ] which lies in the first turn of the spiral canal [canalis spiralis cochleae ] and projects inwards from the outer bony wall in direction of the primary osseus spiral layer [lamina spiralis ossea ] but not reaching it.
